- Be at their level -
For cats and small dogs the key is to have your camera at their eyes level. Think like portrait for human. Of course you can also take picture from your level to immortalize funny positions or even their shadow in the sun. But remember that a good pet pictures is where their eyes are in focus (unless you take details, like their paws for example, or the drop of water when drinking). And don't be afraid to crawl on the floor ;)
- Think of props and style -
When taking picture of your pet think about a style you would like to do. For example would you like fun photos or artistic black and white shots? It is up to you. But for a fun touch don't hesitate to give them accessories and why not outfits.

- Add editing to pictures -
A last step is the editing. This can allow your pet to stand out more in the picture. This can be done by putting highlights on their nose and eyes and adding vignette. Also you can match the style with the props. What I can think about for example is a vintage editing.

Hope all the tips I mentioned above and the pictures will help you find inspiration. I only have cat pictures but you can apply all this for dogs too :).
Take care. Lorrie
